The most fun this summer can be found at Classic Cinemas Wednesday Morning Movie Series. Each Wednesday morning from June 16 through August 11, 2010, Classic Cinemas theatres will only be presenting PG-rated, family-friendly movies. The Woodstock Theatre, located on 209 Main Street in Woodstock, will begin the show each Wednesday at 10 a.m., with doors open at 9 a.m. Movie-goers are encouraged to come early to meet some of your favorite characters and join in on the fun and games before the movie begins. Admission is only $1 per person. Classic Cinemas takes reservations for groups of 15 or more for the Wednesday Morning Movie Series. The special group rate is just $4.50 per person (adults and children) and includes admission, Kiddie Combo (a child sized popcorn, soft drink, and treat) and reserved seating. 815-338-8555

Participants can sign up for several track meet events. All events will be divided by age and gender. Running events include the 50 and 100 meter dash; 200, 400, 800 and 1600 meter run; and 400 meter relay (4 person team). Field events include softball throw, discus, long jump, and shot put. Children with disabilities ages 6 14 are welcome to participate also! Track events include a 25 meter dash/assisted walk and 4 person 100 meter relay (25 meters each). Walkers, canes, crutches or nonmotorized wheelchairs can be used (no motorized equipment). Field events include soft ball throw, disc throw, and long jump. Tractor Trek

McHenry County Farm Bureau and McHenry County Antique Farm Equipment Association are co-sponsoring their 8th annual Tractor Trek. Participants will have the opportunity to share the day with other antique tractor enthusiast as they travel from Von Bergens Country Market (Hebron, IL) to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Proceeds raised from this event are donated to the Agriculture in the Classroom program, to promote agricultural awareness in McHenry County. Registrations received by June 15 will be eligible for a drawing of $85. Drawing will be held the day of the event during the lunch hour. Registration is limited to the first 100 tractors. Registration includes coffee, donuts, water, lunch, ice cream, shirt, hat and end of the day refueling. The registration fee will be $85. This year we will celebrate the 25th Annual Woodstock Folk Festival on Sunday, July 18, 2010, from Noon to 6 p.m. on the historic Square in Woodstock, Illinois, about 60 miles northwest of Chicago. The Festival includes a Main Stage, Workshop, Open Mike Stage, and Children's Area. The Festival will also present the Ninth Annual Woodstock Folk Festival Lifetime Achievement Award. This year's Festival will be co-hosted by Rich Warren and Chuck VanderVennet. Suggested donations are $15/individual, $25/family, and $10/seniors and students. Wednesday Morning Movie Series Tooth Fairy

The most fun this summer can be found at Classic Cinemas Wednesday Morning Movie Series. Each Wednesday morning from June 16 through August 11, 2010, Classic Cinemas theatres will only be presenting PG-rated, family-friendly movies. The Woodstock Theatre, located on 209 Main Street in Woodstock, will begin the show each Wednesday at 10 a.m., with doors open at 9 a.m. Movie-goers are encouraged to come early to meet some of your favorite characters and join in on the fun and games before the movie begins. Admission is only $1 per person. Classic Cinemas takes reservations for groups of 15 or more for the Wednesday Morning Movie Series. The special group rate is just $4.50 per person (adults and children) and includes admission, Kiddie Combo (a child sized popcorn, soft drink, and treat) and reserved seating. 815-338-8555

Battle at the Beach

Have a blast battling other teams in a variety of silly and fun games. Join the Lake in the Hills Parks & Recreation Department on Saturday, July 24, for our inagural Battle at the Beach. The battle begins at 11 a.m. at Indian Trail Beach, 228 Indian Trail, Lake in the Hills. Games include a sack race, water balloon toss, marshmallow relay race, tug-o-war, and more! Prizes will be awarded. Pre-registration is required for this FREE event. Participants must register as a team consisting of 6 participants, six years or older. McHenry Open Golf Tournament

First annual McHenry Open Golf Tournament which is open to any amateur golfer. The format is 36 hole stroke play. The player who returns the lowest score in their flight is declared the champion. Where Are We Located?

McHenry County, Illinois is located approximately 50 miles northwest of Chicago with easy access from I-90. The Fox River Valley and Chain O' Lakes region borders to the east giving way to quaint villages and expansive rolling countryside to the west. The county is traversed by routes 20, 31, 47, 120, 173 and 176 making it a convenient escape from all parts of northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin.
